The City of Panama City has begun to update every water meter in the city with new technology that should eliminate misread or estimated water bills and discrepancies.
The Panama City Automated Meter reading (AMR) Installation Project is a citywide program to update the City’s water system by installing new automated meters in every City Customer residence and business.
Approximately 22,000 water customers will receive new water meters that will provide timely, accurate meter reading that eliminates misreads or the need for estimated bills and will ensure that every customer is paying for their fair share for water service.
The installation program began in the month of February 2012 and will continue for the next 6 to 8 months until all residences and businesses receive new meters.
The City has contracted Utility Metering Solutions to assist with this program. The UMS technicians will go door to door to install the new devices. Every technician will carry both a company identification badge and a City contractor badge.
