Girl Scouts Celebrate 100 Years of Selling Cookies

The celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies will kick into high gear during National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend 2017. From February 24 – 26, Girl Scout councils around the country will be hosting events and cookie booths for cookie enthusiasts to get their hands on the iconic treats and join in the fun.
The programs and services of the Girl Scouts of the Florida Panhandle teach girls to discover, connect and take action, while building courage, confidence, and character, to make the world a better place.

City of PC Accepting Applications for PC Academy

For those looking to understand the ins and outs of what happens at City Hall, Panama City has the program for you.


The city is accepting applicants for their spring Panama City Academy, a program that teaches people about the different city departments "through a series of hands-on activities, demonstrations and interactive tours," according to a press release from the city.


The program will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. 12 consecutive Tuesdays, from April 4 to June 27. Applicants who live in or own a business in Panama City have priority.

GCSC hosts 'Girls Day in Engineering'

Gulf Coast State College is hosting Girls’ Day in Engineering, in conjunction with National Engineers Week. RSVPs REQUIRED:


The event is designed to provide girls in the community with the opportunity to learn about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers. They will be able to explore the Advanced Technology Center and participate in exciting hands-on activities in Engineering, 3D Printing, Unmanned Vehicle Systems (UVS), Cybersecurity, Computer Science and Digital Design. Guest speakers will include Erika Lien, current GCSC Cybersecurity student, and Samantha Smith, an engineer at Naval Support Activity Panama City. Refreshments will also be provided.


The event will be held on Tuesday, February 21, from 5:15 – 7:30 p.m. in GCSC’s Advanced Technology Center. It is free to attend but space is limited,

To raise support for The Covenant Foundation and Visionary Projects, such as expansion of facilities, technology, science and Fine Arts programs, tuition-based scholarships, athletics and classroom budgetary needs. Join us for our annual Coach Post 5K/10K Fun Run - a family friendly road race at St. Andrews State Park! Sugary white beaches and the emerald waters of the Gulf Coast surround our flat and fast course.


The course winds through the pristine surroundings of St Andrews – one of the state of Florida’s top 3 most popular parks! There are water/aid stations in various locations along the course. Volunteers will be lining the route to cheer you on! After the race you and your family can enjoy the beaches, nature trails or even the ferryboat to Shell Island all offered by St. Andrews state park! Walkers and runners of all levels are welcome on this USATF certified course. This is an officially chip timed event. Participants are asked to carpool, as parking is limited.


The race starts at 7:30am, so please make sure to arrive with plenty of time for parking and registration. All participants will receive a complimentary custom Coach Post Run t-shirt. A post race party will follow the race along with the awards ceremony.

Gulf Coast Bluegrass & Folk Music Festival

The Gulf Coast Bluegrass and Folk Music Festival is a fundraising event for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County, Florida.


The event is held the 3rd weekend of October each year at Under the Oaks Park in Panama City/Parker, Florida on East Hwy 98/Tyndall Parkway over looking beautiful East St. Andrews Bay.


The festival has a big draw and bands come from all over the southeast and as far away as Canada to participate and perform in this event. There are craft and food vendors that participate and there’s a large playground onsite to keep the kids entertained.


The event is scheduled for October 12, 13, & 14, 2017
