City of PC Accepting Applications for PC Academy

For those looking to understand the ins and outs of what happens at City Hall, Panama City has the program for you.


The city is accepting applicants for their spring Panama City Academy, a program that teaches people about the different city departments "through a series of hands-on activities, demonstrations and interactive tours," according to a press release from the city.


The program will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. 12 consecutive Tuesdays, from April 4 to June 27. Applicants who live in or own a business in Panama City have priority.

Movers for Moms - Two Men and A Truck

Two Men and A Truck is promoting Movers for Mom to help moms in need this Mother's Day.  The Bay County Chamber is supporting this effort by being a location for a box to received dropped off gifts.


Movers for Moms is a collection of gifts for women living in domestic abuse shelters this year.  If you are interested in participating, please drop a Mother's Day gift in the box and it will reach women staying at the Panama City Rescue Mission/Bethel Village.  Deadline here at the Bay County Chamber is Friday, May 5.

Wreaths Across America Bay County 2017

Spread the word about our Wreaths Across America Bay County for our 2017 campaign. We are in need of Volunteers and Donations to make the laying of the Christmas Remembrance Wreaths on December 16, 2017 a success.


Last year we did one cemetery Lynn Haven along with 10th Court Cemetery in Lynn Haven. Again, this year we will be doing Lynn Haven Cemetery, but this year, we will be adding: Millville Cemetery, and Kent Forest Lawn Cemetery for a grand total of 3 cemeteries and 1 Veteran Memorial – Panama City Garden Club Memorial off Balboa. 


The committee/community has taken on a big responsibility - but we feel with the Veteran Clubs and Community Support we will be able to raise the funds and people needed for all the sites. With your wide community outreach, we need your help to get the Volunteers we need and the funding. Hope that you will be able to help us spread the word.

Art of Murder - A Play

In a remote estate in the countryside of Connecticut, Jack Brooks, one of the most accomplished and eccentric painters of his generation, awaits the imminent arrival of his art dealer. But the visit is not a standard one, for Jack feels wronged, and he is intending to kill the man. Jack, using threats of violence, tries to involve his wife in the plot and the suspense ensues. GCSC Music Concerts at Amelia Tapper Center for Arts

The Visual and Performing Arts Division at Gulf Coast State College present two music concerts in the Amelia Center Theatre on April 23 and April 30 at 2:30pm.


April 23 at 2:30 p.m. is the Instrumental Music Concert featuring The Concert Band under the direction of John Divine and the Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Christopher Rochester. This concert includes works by Dave Brubeck, Ira Gershwin, Stevie Wonder, Hans Zimmer, and Gustav Holst.


April 30 at 2:30 p.m. is the Vocal Music Concert featuring The Singing Commodores under the direction of Carissa Hosea and the Concert Chorale under the direction of David Watson and accompanied by Christina Kettering. The concert includes works by Francis Scott Key, Franz Schubert, Billy Joel, Henry Mancini, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon and Elton John.


Both concerts will include current GCSC students and local guest musicians. Both concerts are free and open to the community.  Canned food donations will be accepted for the Center of Hope at St. Andrew Baptist Church and cash or check donations for GCSC Music scholarships will also be accepted.

Southern Watercolor Society 40th Annual Exhibit

Saints of Old Florida Book Signing and Art Exhibit

Paul Brent Gallery announces a book signing and art exhibit event that highlights the area of coastline between Port Saint Joe and Saint Marks.   The event is Thursday, May 11, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm at the Paul Brent Gallery.


The book titled Saints of Old Florida by Emily Raffield, Christina McDermott, and Melissa Farrell is a compendium of remembrances, history, recipes and photographs of what is commonly referred to as "The Forgotten Coast." The authors will be signing copies of the books and artist Paul Brent will be exhibiting a series of original watercolor paintings depicting this area of Florida.

Gulf Coast Bluegrass & Folk Music Festival

The Gulf Coast Bluegrass and Folk Music Festival is a fundraising event for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County, Florida.


The event is held the 3rd weekend of October each year at Under the Oaks Park in Panama City/Parker, Florida on East Hwy 98/Tyndall Parkway over looking beautiful East St. Andrews Bay.


The festival has a big draw and bands come from all over the southeast and as far away as Canada to participate and perform in this event. There are craft and food vendors that participate and there’s a large playground onsite to keep the kids entertained.
