Girl Scouts Silver and Gold: Villages Unfold

A Fontanini Nativity display

Vintage and New assortments from Department 56, Thomas Kincaid and Lemax

 

These delightful village scenes will set just the right festive mood for the holidays.  Children will be captivated by the miniature settings that look right out of the pages of a storybook.  Create magical memories for years to come at this fun family affair!  

 

Also get a sneak peek at the new GS cookie flavors coming in the new year, including a Gluten-free option.

Bethlehem Christmas Village @ Grand Lagoon
12/17/2014 to 12/21/2014

2nd Annual Bethlehem Christmas Village is set to open at Capt. Anderson's Marina on Thomas Drive December 17 through December 21, from 4-7pm.

 

The village will include the Census Taker, Tax Collector, and Obadiah, the storyteller.  There will also be angels, shepherds with their flocks and a live Nativity scene each night.  Collaborators include Capt. Anderson's Marina, the Waterfront Markets, Inc. and St. Andrews Baptist Church.

 

Admission to the village is free, but the tax collectors will gladly accept donations of canned goods and unwrapped toys.

 

Programs are at 4:15 and 5:45 including Mary & Joseph entering Bethlehem and live music and choirs.

The general public is invited to be a part of Christmas for someone in need at the Panama City Rescue Mission’s annual Christmas meal event. The Christmas holiday is a time of fellowship and giving. With hundreds of local families in need, providing a traditional Christmas meal is one way to demonstrate the love that Christ has for all of us. Red Cross MLK Day of Service

American Red Cross volunteers and partners will be going door-to-door in local neighborhoods on Monday, January 19th, 2015 to discuss fire safety with residents and to install smoke alarms. The Red Cross fire safety activity is being done as a part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. “Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in home fires by half,” said Tanya Holloway, AmeriCorps External Relations Specialist. “To honor the legacy of service of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Red Cross volunteers are educating the community and providing vital information on fire safety and the importance of maintaining working smoke alarms.” Those wishing to join the “MLK Day of Service” are asked to contact Tanya Holloway at 850-763-6587 or by email at tanya.holloway@redcross.org.

Thrivent Strides for Scholars

We invite everyone in the community to come out for our fifth annual Strides for Scholars event on February 28, 2015. This 5K walk/run is for everyone who wants to feel good by doing good. The race starts at 8:00 a.m. at Balboa and 10th Street and follows the St. Andrews route established by the Panama City Commission. A one-mile fun run follows. The race is followed by brunch and awards at the Nelson Building (school district offices), 1311 Balboa Avenue, Panama City. All timely registered participants receive a gift bag and a very cool t-shirt. Awards will be given to first, second, and third in customary age groups and to all children in the Fun Run. Thrivent Financial will be the title sponsor for Strides for Scholars again this year. We are so grateful to Juan Andrada and Thrivent for their continued support of the Bay Education Foundation’s Take Stock in Children program. Participants can register for this race at active.com or by printing off an application from www.bayeducationfoundation. org. The cost is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the Fun Run.

The Girl Scouts of the Florida Panhandle will host a 5K and One Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, March 7, taking place along the picturesque St. Andrews route at 8:00am. 

 

Runners will check in at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 West 11th Street, Panama city, at 6:30am.

2015 Arts Alive

The Bay Education Foundation is proud to sponsor its fifth Arts Alive event on April 4, 2015, at Edgewater Beach Resort and Conference Center. Arts Alive is a major fundraising event for the Bay Education Foundation. The proceeds from this event yield funding for Take Stock in Children scholarships and for visual and performing art grants. In four short years Arts Alive has become one of the most anticipated charity events in our community. The evening features a reception/silent auction, a gallery of student art, a three-course meal, and a fabulous variety show. The variety show consists of fifteen acts, selected via audition, representing the best singers, dancers, and musicians that Bay District Schools has to offer.
