THE TRANSYLVANIAN CLOCKWORKS opens at Kaleidoscope Theatre, 207 E. 24th St. in Lynn Haven, on November 14th for two weekends.

 

Set in London in 1888, this adult production examines what happens when Dracula comes to the place where Jack the Ripper is eviscerating unaccompanied ladies. Directed by Charles Wilson, this tale is told in a powerful, complex, erotic, darkly funny and utterly terrifying way.

 

Showtimes are Friday and Saturdays at 7:30pm, and Sundays at 2:00.

7th Annual Cup Show @ GCSC
11/24/2014 to 12/18/2014

  

The  Division of Visual and Performing Arts at Gulf Coast State College is proud to present the Seventh Annual Cup Show: Form and Function.

 

This nationally juried show is a survey of the wide variety of approaches to contemporary ceramics though the lens of the most intimate and accessible vessel, the cup. The focus of the exhibition is the function and concept of the drinking vessel, including its relation to history, politics, craft, technology, utility, and narrative. This year the show was juried by Chandra DeBuse, a nationally recognized ceramic artist and former Visiting Artist at GCSC.

 

The exhibit will run fromNovember 24 - December 18, with an Opening Reception on the evening of December 5, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Chandra DeBuse will present a curatorial lecture on December 5, 1p.m. – 2p.m. at the Amelia Tapper Center, room 128. The work will be on display in the Amelia Center Main Gallery (Room 112). Gallery hours are Monday – Thursday, 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Bay County Board of Commissioners will hold its 6th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:00pm on Thursday, December 4, at the Bay County Government Center.

 

The event will feature Christmas carols, a visit from Santa Claus and hot coca and cookies.  The public is invited to attend and encouraged to bring cameras for photos with Santa.

REVOLT Ministries Stuff The Bus Toy Drive 2014

Spreading the love of Christ, and Partnering with Island 106 Revolt Ministries is planning on collecting toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots foundation.

 

Going bigger than we ever have before this year’s event will not only include camping on top of a bus, but free nightly concerts.

 

Each person/group who brings a new unwrapped toy will be entered into the nightly drawing and will receive a picture with Santa.

 

Again the concerts are free, and you are welcome to come nightly to enjoy the music without bringing a toy. So, come on out, bring a toy, and enjoy the free concert.

Auditions for Twelfth Night @ GCSC

Auditions are open to all GCSC students, high school students, and community actors.

Auditions are December 8th and 9th at 6:30 pm in the Amelia Center Theatre Lab. Those auditioning should prepare a one-minute, comic Shakespeare monologue as well as be prepared to read from the script and maybe even sing a little.

 

Rehearsals begin January 5th. Show dates are February 20th, 21st, 22nd, 27th, 28th, and March 1st.

The Junior League of Panama City is hosting their annual 10K and 5K Reindeer Race and 1/2 mile Santa Shuffle at St. Andrews State Park.

 

Registration starts at 6:00 a.m. CDT  -  10K & 5K Race starts at 8:00 a.m. CDT  -  ½ mile Santa Shuffle starts at 10:00 a.m. CDT 

 

Cost for 10K before November 22 is $35 - after and on race day is $40

 

Cost for 5K before November 22 is $25 - after and on race day is $30

2014 Holiday Concert at GCSC

The Restaurant Guest Service class for December has been scheduled! It will be the week of Dec 15-19 and will be at the Goodwill Career Training Center inside our store on 23rd Street. This will be the last chance for people to take this course BEFORE Spring Break hiring and job fairs in January!!! 


This restaurant class is not just for beginners, though it is geared toward them; it can also help experienced restaurant staff learn ways to sharpen their skills and help them be in the group that does not get laid off at the end of the season! We also now offer a program for people to earn their Florida Foodhandler's Permit as part of the class or as a separate on-line course.
