Animal Control Closed for Repairs

Bay County Animal Control will be closed to the public for building maintenance and repairs from Jan. 25 through Feb. 1. The shelter will reopen to the public on Tuesday, Feb. 2.


Animal Control will continue enforcement operations throughout the closure.


The facility will not be available to the public for adoptions or owner surrenders during that week. For more information please call 767-3333.

2nd Annual Hawgs with Hearts


On Saturday, February 21 the American Heart Association will hold its annual motorcycle charity ride, the 2nd Annual Hawgs with Hearts, which is one of the first fundraising events leading up to the AHA’s Heart Ball on March 14. 


The ride originates from Harley-Davidson of Panama City Beach (14700 Panama City Beach Parkway), and riders can sign in between 9:00-11:00 AM. At 11:00 AM all kick stands up for a 45-minute police-escorted beach ride organized by local motorcycle clubs, that brings the riders back to Harley-Davidson for an afternoon barbeque cookout and concert. 


This year's event features Destin's finest reggae-rock band, HERITAGE.


Admission for the ride including cookout and concert is $15. Commemorative T-shirts cost $15, and everything all-inclusive costs $25.

Thrivent Strides for Scholars

We invite everyone in the community to come out for our fifth annual Strides for Scholars event on February 28, 2015.


This 5K walk/run is for everyone who wants to feel good by doing good. The race starts at 8:00 a.m. at Balboa and 10th Street and follows the St. Andrews route established by the Panama City Commission. A one-mile fun run follows.


The race is followed by brunch and awards at the Nelson Building (school district offices), 1311 Balboa Avenue, Panama City.


All timely registered participants receive a gift bag and a very cool t-shirt. Awards will be given to first, second, and third in customary age groups and to all children in the Fun Run.


Thrivent Financial will be the title sponsor for Strides for Scholars again this year. We are so grateful to Juan Andrada and Thrivent for their continued support of the Bay Education Foundation’s Take Stock in Children program.

The Junior League of Panama City is hosting the 5th Annual murder mystery show, MYSTIQUE, at the Holley Academic Center on the FSU Panama City campus on Saturday, March 7 beginning at 6:00pm.  This year's theme is Funeral for a Gangster.


Hors d'oeuvres and cash bar will be available.  Silent auction items will be presented while characters from the show circulate and lay the ground work for what will unfold on stage.  The play begins at 7:00pm and will be followed by a fun, interactive clue-hunt that commences with a closing solution scene.  Live entertainment will follow the play.

The Girl Scouts of the Florida Panhandle will host a 5K and One Mile Run/Walk on Saturday, March 7, taking place along the picturesque St. Andrews route at 8:00am.

The Panama City Passion Play

The Panama City Passion Play is returning to the beautiful downtown Marina Civic Center for its 12th season for three performances, Thursday April 2 and Friday April 3 at 7 p.m. and a matinee at 4 p.m. Saturday.


Featuring a full orchestra, choir, cast and crew of over 200, it has been enjoyed and embraced by young and old alike in Panama City and the surrounding communities. The production creatively & authentically shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a theatrical setting and brings new elements of sets, story line, music, and theatrical effects each year.


Please bring at least least 1 canned food item to help benefit the Center of Hope, a non-profit organization in the heart of St Andrews that provides food and clothing to those in need here in our own community.

Ride to Remember participants will register at the GCSC Military Park from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday, 16 May with a $15 donation.


Military scholarships, Veteran Book Borrow Program and educational supplies are funded with donations to the Military Park. The 45-minute ceremony begins at 10:00 AM, and then kick stands up at 10:45 AM for the beach ride. The cookout and concert will follow at Harley-Davidson from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, with a special military ceremony taking place at 1:00 PM.
