Description: The United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time temporary position of Generalist Clerk in the Panama City Division. The position is a temporary position with a not to exceed appointment date of January 7, 2018. A Generalist Clerk performs a variety of duties, including receiving, filing, and maintaining files for the court and providing assistance and support to customers filing documents and/or requesting document copies.

Experience: Candidates for the Generalist Clerk position must have a minimum of one year of progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedures that demonstrate the ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws and involve the routine use of specialized terminology and automated software and equipment for word processing, data entry, or report generation.
Court preferred experience includes experience gained in employment with law firms, State Court, law enforcement, or other related organizations. Court preferred education level: bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Requires the ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) to individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds to provide information and advise filers of errors, without providing legal advice.
Requires experience with a variety of computer software applications (especially legal electronic case management) and word processing programs. Experience using scanning and image creation is highly desired. Requires the ability to consistently demonstrate sound ethics and judgment. Requires the ability to file, extract, and re-file documents accurately and appropriately. The ability to learn and apply the court’s policies, rules, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to case administration. Requires the ability to work well with others.
