As we all celebrate the 4th of July with picnics, parties and fireworks, take time to remember that this is a celebration of our country's independence. Have a safe and fun holiday but take just a moment to reflect on what this day really stands for.
Southerland Proud to Have Been A Part of Passing RESTORE
Congressman Steve Southerland spoke to a group of Chamber members, the business, fishing and governmental community on Monday, July 2nd on the St. Andrew Marina. Southerland expressed his appreciation for all who helped in getting the RESTORE ACT passed. This is legislation that is going to help the entire Gulf Coast Region.

Sen. Bill Nelson to Hold Roundtable at Chamber
The Chamber will host Sen. Nelson for a roundtable discussion on the RESTORE ACT and how it will be a catalyst for change. The roundtable is open to Chamber members only, space is limited. The meeting will be in the Chamber board room on Monday, July 9th at 3:00 p.m.
Primary Candidates to Give Stump Speech at August First Friday
The August 3rd First Friday at the FSU Holley Center will feature the candidates in the primary election, to be held on August 14th. This will be an excellent chance to meet the candidates and hear how much information they can share in their one minute "stump speech." Should be a large crowd so be sure to arrive in plenty of time. Networking begins at 7:30 a.m. and the program begins at 8:00 a.m.
LWG to host First Primary Forum
League of Women Voters has teamed with WJHG for a Primary Candidates Forum, to be broadcast live the FSU Holley Center on Thursday, July 26th from 7 - 8 p.m.
Panelists from the League, WJHG News, Gulf Coast State College and FSU-PC will questions those candidates who accept the Leagues invitation.
