Bay County Legislative Delegation To Hold Public Hearing December 5
Bay County's state legislative delegation will hold a public hearing Thursday, December 5, 2013, from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm at the Bay County Board of County Commissioners' Chamber located at 840 West 11th Street, Panama City, Florida 32401. The Bay County Legislative Delegation consists of Representative Jimmy Patronis, Representative Marti Coley and Senator Don Gaetz.
"The most important job of a state legislator is to listen to the concerns and guidance of the people he represents," said Senator Don Gaetz. "When we listen better, we lead better."

Transportation Update from Senator Don Gaetz
Northwest Florida is slated to receive an additional $300M in transportation projects. Bay County will receive funding for the remaining phases of the SR 390 multi-laning from State Road 368 (23rd St) to SR 77 (Ohio Ave). Also, funding will be received for designing the multi-laning of SR 388 from SR 79 to east of the airport entrance. For details, click
Panama City Bed Tax
Bay County Chamber of Commerce Chairman Bill Fenimore, presented a letter in support of a new bed tax within the Panama City city limits, to the city commission on November 26th. The Chamber, hoteliers, the arts and other business interest spoke in support of the tax. The issue received a unanimous yes vote by the commission. A local bill will be presented to our state delegation on December 5th, during their public hearing.
The bed tax will only be applicable to Panama City visitors who rent or lease accommodations for less than six months. The tax could be used for the repair, improvement, maintenance, operations and promotion of existing public buildings and marketing of the Panama City area. The final vote would be given to the citizens of Panama City on a referendum.
