Panama City Bed Tax

Bay County Chamber of Commerce Chairman Bill Fenimore, presented a letter in support of a new bed tax within the Panama City city limits, to the city commission on November 26th.   The Chamber, hoteliers, the arts and other business interest spoke in support of the tax.  The issue received a unanimous yes vote by the commission.  A local bill will be presented to our state delegation on December 5th, during their public hearing.

The bed tax will only be applicable to Panama City visitors who rent or lease accommodations for less than six months. The tax could be used for the repair, improvement, maintenance, operations and promotion of existing public buildings and marketing of the Panama City area.  The final vote would be given to the citizens of Panama City on a referendum.
