Eastern Shipbuilding Launches New Vessel
August 16, 2013

The Bay County Chamber of Commerce  co-hosted a delegation of executives from the Brazilian company, Boldini, S.A./Bravante Group at an event at which they accepted delivery of a vessel constructed for them by the Eastern Shipbuilding Group of Panama City (ESG).   The boat delivery event took place at the ESG Nelson Yard in Panama City on August 5, 2013. A second vessel was launched the same day.

“Businesses like Eastern Shipbuilding that successfully compete to serve overseas customers are critical to economic growth for Bay County,” said Carol Roberts, President and CEO of Bay County Chamber of Commerce.  “The relationship between ESG and Boldini creates jobs in the shipyard that in turn help generate activity in other parts of our local economy.”

U.S. Representative Steve Southerland, whose support helped secure a $241 million loan guarantee from the U.S. Maritime Administration to allow ESG to build five vessels, was among the dignitaries greeting Renato Nascimento, President of the Bravante Group and his team.

The first vessel was launched in March 2012 and work on the remaining three will continue through December 2014. The ships provide services to deep-water oil fields, transporting workers, supplies, parts, and chemicals to offshore rigs.

“Eastern Shipbuilding’s contract with Boldini, S.A./Bravante Group helps connect our community to the global economy,” said Southerland (R-FL).  “Promoting export-driven growth by businesses such as Eastern is essential to attracting well-paying jobs to the region and building a brighter economic future.”

Local government leaders also attended the vessel delivery ceremony.  “We are proud that Mr. D’Isneria and ESG call Bay County home,” said George Gainer, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners for Bay County.  “ESG continues to attract worldwide attention to our community of which is certain to bring more industry and jobs to the citizens of Bay County and beyond. The Bay County Commission wishes ESG the best and thanks its leadership for providing economic growth to our region.”

“Eastern is proud of the skill and craftsmanship our workforce puts into the construction of all our vessels,” said Brian D’Isernia, president of Eastern Shipbuilding. “And we are proud of our ability to leverage this expertise to secure overseas clients like Boldini, S.A./Bravante Group in order to bring good employment opportunities back here to Bay County and all of Northwest Florida.  We look forward to continuing to serve both our clients and our community.”
