This periodic update is intended to keep you informed on issues impacting your business and our community. We encourage you to stay in tune on these activities and to communicate with our elected officials. In addition, you will receive "ACTION ALERTS" during session, or on a local level, as issues arise and we need mass communication with our elected leadership. When the time comes, please respond quickly as our officials need prompt input from their constituents.
Thank you for making Bay County a better place to live, work and play!
Of major interest to our community and state is Governor Rick Scott's proposal to eliminate the sales tax on the purchase of manufacturing equipment. This will be another tool in our box of incentives to grow existing companies and recruit new ones that will provide good paying jobs to our citizens. The issue will be put to a vote on April 16th at 2:00 PM in the Economic Affairs Committee chaired by our own Representative Jimmy Patronis. Please continue to reach out to our delegation and the Economic Affairs Committee to encourage their support. Click here for a list of the committee membership.
As we enter into Week 7 of the Florida legislative session, our governmental affairs department continues to monitor issues of interest to our community. Click here for a complete report from the Florida Chamber of Commerce on Week 6.
