Welcome to the Bay County Chamber of Commerce!
I am honored to be your Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2017. Last year was definitely a banner year for this organization. We were named “Chamber of the Year” by the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals, for the third time. This is the highest honor in the state of Florida a Chamber can receive. We also completed our five year Chamber recertification process; moreover, we met additional criteria and gained “Certified Plus” status. This merit of excellence given by our peers is a reflection on our Chamber, and the role we play locally and statewide.
I look forward to continuing this momentum in 2017. I encourage you to get involved in the Bay County Chamber of Commerce. Without the involvement of membership, our programs would not happen. You will reap the rewards of your membership by participating in our events, seminars, committees, and public efforts. I am a proud graduate of Leadership Bay Class of 2001 and former Steering Committee Chair of both Leadership Bay and Junior Leadership Bay (JLB). Leadership Bay and JLB are just two of the many amazing programs that make this organization so valuable to our members and our community. Click here for more information on committee opportunities.
Not only are we dedicated to our members, but we are dedicated to our community. Did you know that the Bay County Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership Bay program was successful in bringing Driver’s Education back into Bay District Schools? In addition, we helped pass the Panama City Bed Tax which has led to the creation of the Panama City Community Development Council. Now, the City of Panama City has the adequate funds to market Panama City as a tourist destination. Another major accomplishment is the passing of the Infrastructure Surtax. Our community will now have approximately $20 million dollars to improve our roads and many other infrastructure needs. To do this, we formed the Chamber’s first ever Political Committee, Building a Better Bay. For the record, no dues dollars were spent on the campaign and was fully funded by private contributions. As evidenced, the Bay County Chamber is a conduit to positive opportunity in this growing community.
As you can see, we have a rich history and a bright future
ahead. As we turn 104 years old this year, I highly encourage you to get involved with us and make this
beautiful community we call home even better. Whether you are a small business
or a large corporation, we are here to serve you; together we can Build A
Better Bay County.
Chairman, Bay County
Chamber of Commerce
