This committee travels to Tallahassee, the state capitol, at least once during the legislative session to promote the Chamber's state legislative agenda to our legislators. Small groups also travel to the capitol as needed to address issues that arise. Contact with Federal elected officials and at times travel to Washington DC, helps to promote our Federal agenda. The Chamber is committed to keeping abreast of issues on all government levels that effect the business community. An annual governmental affairs agenda is produced after membership is surveyed. Through grassroots advocacy and a politically involved membership, the Chamber becomes the voice for Bay County's business community.
The committee hosts roundtables and other events that allow our members to discuss issues important to the business community. City and County Commission meetings and agendas are monitored to focus on any issues that could effect businesses.
Pat Holley, Governmental Affairs Staff, oversees the Governmental Affairs Committee which monitors activities of city, county, state and federal government entities, specifically relating to transportation, and issues affecting business.
